This
stunning art print is of King Ludwig's Castle in
Bavaria, Germany. The castle is also known as
Neuschwanstein Castle, which means "new swan"
castle. A majestic and imaginative "fairy-tale
castle" high above the Alpsee lake, with the Alps
towering above it. In this art print, the castle and
its surrounding landscape is covered with snow. The
the castle appears to sparkle as the sunlight
glistens beautifully off of it.
King
Ludwig ruled Bavaria from 1864 until his death in
1886. Neuschwanstein Castle was built between 1869
and 1886 for the Bavarian King Ludwig II. It was
built next to King Ludwig II's father's castle,
Hohenschwangau. Neuschwanstein Castle was not
finished at Ludwig's death. It is by far the best
known landmark, to non-Germans, in Germany today.
Neuschwanstein would become the inspiration for
Sleeping Beauty's castle at Disneyland.
